DTV Coupons a flim-fam?
I applied for and received my government DTV coupons. When I received them, no retailers in my area had stocked them in. By the time local retailers had the units in stock, my coupons were expired.
Anyone know how to resolve this?
I live on a fixed income and can't afford a new TV for a while.

As of now the government will not replace your expired coupons. I'd hang on to them just in case they change their "minds".
Options:
1. People can give you their coupons. Can you find relatives/friends that aren't going to use theirs?
2. Pay full price. Sometimes you can find good converters for about $50. Some Kmarts carry the Zenith model for $50 and some Walmarts carry the RCA DTA800B1 for $50. $60 is a more common price. Sometimes you can find models for $40 but I don't recommend the the current models at that price. I suppose the Dish TR-40CRA is the best of the $40 models.
3. After the dust settles (~3/2009) you can expect clearance sales on less popular models.
It's unfortunate that you didn't ask a month before the coupons expire. You can order converters on the Internet from a number of companies.
