How long can a cat survive if...?

Here's what happened. My cat has been missing for a week. I believe she has been trapped in a neighbor's backyard.(The house is empty and I have no idea how to reach the owner) The way in is easy for a cat, but it looks impossible to get out of there. I know this because I just saw my other cat jump in there, and can't get out. I can't trespass, so I put a long piece of wood to help her come out.

The cat that has been missing for a week is not in sight, but I have believe she might've gotten trapped there, too.

Can she still be alive by just feeding on grass after 8 days? Maybe she feels weak and can't climb out of there.

What gives?

Update:

I'm guessing the grass might've provided her with a little water, maybe?

Update 2:

Both are spayed. One of them has come out using the piece of wood, but I don't see the other one. I mean, the one that has been gone for a week. Could she be dead?

You have a cat/cow mix? Sorry, but cats are carnivores... eating grass just does not cut it! I think a cat goes into liver failure approx 3 days without food.

The long piece of wood is a good idea, another would be a piece of carpet or several towels knotted together draped over the fence. They can use their claws to catch in the nap & climb out.

Thing is, the life span for a cat that is allowed outside is not very long. They are at risk from other cats, dogs, cars, humans that do not like cats, illness, parasites, pesticides & other toxins.

If you love your cats, once you get them back you will keep them safe inside!

I'd make an opening under the fence and then go over to the place and

look inside to see if you can see anything, otherwise I'd open a door (any way possible) and just leave it open a bit or if not, then just leave some food out and see if it vanishes.

Finally, if your cat is not fixed it may be weeks if ever that it may return.

Dont just sit there and wonder! Call the police and tell them that your cats are very possibly trapped in the back yard of this empty home and you need access but dont want to just go on the property without notifying someone. Personally I wouldnt worry about trespassing on the property in order to possibly save the life of your cat. I had next door neighbors who forfeited their home and it was foreclosed on. They moved out unexpectedly leaving behind a cat in the house plus one cat outside. I was feeding one of the cats in the driveway of this empty house and trying to befriend it in order to catch it. While waiting for the cat to eat I stepped up to the front room window and lo and behold a pair of cat eyes peered back at me. I went to my house, got a hammer, and broke the back window in the kitchen, climbed into the house, put out food and water on the cabinet near the window and it came out on its own. I know I saved its life. The cat got out of the house and it eventually came to me and I found it a good home. Call animal control as well as explain the situation. You might also consider making your beloved pets indoor cats so they wont get in to the same situation again.

Do you mean you might have 2 cats trapped in there now ? You must ring the RSPCA or if you are not in England, the equivalant to it. Ring the police too, someone will have to get in and set those cats free, they can't survive indefinately without food and drink.

Trespass or not, I'd be in there myself if my cats were trapped !

Personally, I'd just trespass if the house is empty.

Instead of 911, I'd call the police non-emergency number or the animal control number. Animal control should be able to get access to the property. Mention that the owner has been gone for some time and that you haven't been able to reach them to create a sense of urgency, otherwise they may blow you off for a while.

Can your cat not jump over the fence, or is it too high?

I'm sure your cat will be able to survive on the little creatures and birds that will be able to get into your neighbor's garden. Cats, even if domesticated, will still have wild instincts - that's why stray and feral cats can survive without 'owners'.

However, I would try to get the cat out. Even if it means you need to go into your neighbors garden, if you explain that you did and why, I'm sure they'd understand. But you do need to get her out as soon as is possible.

If you dont want to trespass, just call 911 and tell them your cat is stuck in someones backyard and they are not home. They will come to the house, take your cat out, fix the hole, and everything will be fine :)

Cats are organic born hunters. They hunt and consume mice, birds, small lizards, bugs and different small animals while they're outdoors.(they have an relatively severe prey force and searching intuition, and no rely how domesticated they're, their choose and intuition to seek remains intact). Cats additionally receive approximately ninety% of the mandatory water and moisture from eating the flesh of alternative animals (you would be conscious that maximum cats drink a fragment of the water small dogs drink). she would be able to additionally drink water droplets off the grass interior the morning and that i'm helpful she's imaginitive adequate to stumble on water type different components if she needs it. i'm so sorry that your kitty is lacking and that i easily wish you stumble on her, yet i do no longer want you to agonize to plenty, she would be able to stumble on nutrition for herself, cats are relatively self sustaining and self reliant and that i'm helpful she'll discover her way domicile. upload: i'm hoping she has a Micro Chip, if she does whoever might discover her might have the skill to stumble on you suitable away. wish this helps reward on your cat!

I would call animal control or as my husband would do - go over there and look for your cat. Poor kitty might be weak from lack of nutrition or maybe she found mice? Hope you get them back and everything is fine (flea dipping will be in order!)
