OK, some of your answers say he will do away with tax breaks for the rich. The rich are rich because they have accountants and planners to protect them from situations like this. Have these dreamers not heard of off shore accounts? If the rich have all their money in cash, feel free to help yourself to it. Rich people have things that are worth money, and property, with tax benefits to protect them. The poor people of the country have always voted for the liberal democrats, hoping they will be better off, but they are still poor, and always will be. The thought of free money takes away a drive and desire to do better. So why try?

The power elite has money for programs that they want to support, like the Iraq War. All the money went into the Military-Industrial Complex. People like Cheney enriched themselves and their companies by launching this war and keeping it going for so long. Entenpreniers made a lot of money on federal government, military contracts. Military contractors are the fat cats of Washington. There is always money for their agenda.

Hopefully, Obama will reboot the financial agenda of the country. There is money, the previous regime just said there is no money. There never is when it comes to people programs because they want people to die off. That's why there is never money for healthcare programs. Get it?

I love the response "from the rich." Sorry to inform you all, that Obama has no intention of extending the Bush tax cuts. So in 2010, everyone earning 25k and up will see their taxes increase. No sure to everyone else, but 25k is not that much money today.

All the time you people waste asking this question and you never take the time to read his policy. So sad. He's giving the middle class a tax break and raising taxes for the millionaires. That's where he'll get some of the money. The other $10 billion a MONTH will come from ending the war in Iraq. Any other questions?

I dont think he is going to hand out money but I do believe my taxes wont go up as long as I dont make over 250K and even though I may come close I can always add more to my now defunct 401K which has now been converted to a money market fund

Its pretty simple

-Increase the capital gains tax. Say you have a hundred dollar investment and wanted to sell it today. With the Cap Gain tax say its worth $85. Once Obama is in office. That hundred dollar investment will be worth like $75. So in affect, your investments are worth more today than they will be when Obama is in office.

-increase income taxes on individuals making over $250 thousand a year and using that extra money to give to the poor and people paying no taxes (income redistribution)

Those who make more than $200,000/year (net) will have their taxes raised from 36% to 39%. Plus, the Iraqi war is a big drain, and freeing up that money will go a long way toward expanding programs here at home. Also, he plans to go through the budget and determine where money is being wasted. He can reallocate those funds to programs that will help us more.
