Is disagreement between brethren a good reason to split away from Christianity?
joseph.faust: Do you think they're making their very own Christianity?

No.
Really, it isn't.
You should only leave Christianity if your faith in Jesus or God fails and you no longer feel anything towards them.
If you leave over disagreements you are just ostracising yourself from what you believe because of an emotional fall out and that won't benefit you at all.
Don't get me wrong, I welcome anyone to the atheist fold, but I don't want people to come out because they are bitter towards their religion but because they see through it. Those who hate god are of no use as atheists!
But do consider joining another religion or at least another parish.

I speak from experience but I have found that some doctrines do not hold true for me. Therefore I left that Church and joined another.
You have to listen to your own heart for it is there that the Kingdom of God lies within. If part of their doctrine makes you feel uneasy then you should listen to your inner thoughts and test them.
Jesus tells us to test the spirits and this is good advice.
I would not give up on Christianity just pray for this one question to be answered.
Ask for guidance in seeking your new spiritual home. You are a spiritual being and need to grow, if you are not growing then you are loosing out on the gifts that God has prepared for you.
It is also healthy for you to question all things, in our own hearts we hear the answers. Blind faith is not healthy. So enjoy your questioning mind, maybe you have learned all there is from this Church and you are now needed somewhere else. It all seems a bit of a puzzle, but then the puzzle starts to come together and you can see why you studied that subject at that specific time. God's plan is sometimes a mystery, but be assured it is all about learning and passing on our knowledge.
If you ever need to chat, email. I think I know how you feel and there is always an answer.
God-bless.

"disagreement between brethren" is precisely the reason there are well over 1,500 different 'flavors' of Christianity around the world, each of which is convinced it is the "one true way", LOL!
There are only two likely explanations: either all (but one) of them are wrong, or ALL of them are wrong. So Christians face either a 99.933% chance they are wrong, or a 100% chance they are wrong...
Why not just "be nice" because it's the right thing to do, instead of out of fear of an Imaginary Sky Daddy?

Split away from Christianity, no.
If reconciling is an option, the other person(s) willing, that is always your best bet.
If reconciliation is not an option now you should keep your heart open to it but your split would be from the person(s) involved, not from God or your religion.

The main reason to get away from Christianity is that they worship a backwards interpretation of the bible which will you free you with knowledge/gnosis if interpreted correctly, or have you worshipping a god that merely represents authority to trap you if interpreted as the Church does.

No it implies lack of belief and faith. If you are experiencing a real problem best thing is perhaps to try and talk it over with the person you have a problem with, go to your pastor or find another church. God bless.

Based on obeying God, and not private interpretation, perhaps, but unity is God's ideal.
You are supposed to forgive your brethren, and vice versa.

"God writes straight with crooked lines".
It is when you follow those crooked lines over time and see that they were for the best - that is when you truly learn to trust in the hand of Spirit guiding you.
"True religion is not about possessing the truth. No religion does that. It is rather an invitation into a journey that leads one toward the mystery of God. Idolatry is religion pretending that it has all the answers."
