If the US was governed by Christian laws, would we have something like Sharia law?

Including execution of:

Homosexuals (Leviticus 20:13)

Those who work on the sabbath (Exodus 31:12-15)

Those who curse their parents (Leviticus 20:9)

Adulterers (Leviticus 20:10)

Those who are not virgins on their wedding night (Deuteronomy 22:20-21)

Disobedient kids (Deuteronomy 21:18-21)

And kids making fun of bald-headed clergy (2 Kings 2:23-24)

Genocide of non-Christian nations but take their virgin girls (Numbers 31:15-18)

Would world news about the US look like this:

If not, what new crimes and punishments do you think a Christian theocracy would mandate?

Those laws in JUDAISM had so many circumstances that had to be met in order to be carried out, that they almost never were. The Sanhedrin's "motto" was that even one person put to death was too many, and "one man put to death does not mean a merciful Sanhedrin". The Sanhedrin was a merciful court. It was not the bloodthirsty, robot-like, lacking in understanding of the spirit of the law, as Christianity loves to portrays the Jews and Judaism back then. This is totally ignorant and its also really snakey.

Christianity though, IS a bloodthirsty religion and always has been, as evidenced by the millions and millions of people it has exterminated over the past 2000 years all over the world.

In case you're interested, the Christians have just forged a new relationship with Islam. The Pope and the Muslim leadership just met and decided to bond together.

Guess who they willl now turn against, together. The Jews, of course.

Also, in case you are interested, our Treasury Dept, is looking at the Saudi Arabia Sharia Law banking system right now in preparation for instituting it here in the USA.

    And then there's this:

DOHA, Qatar – British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said Sunday he is confident that Saudi Arabia will contribute to the International Monetary Fund's bailout reserves after he promised business leaders in the Gulf that they would have a say in any future new world economic order.

It looks like you might want to be a little more concerned about the US being governed by Islamic Sharia law at the moment, than Christian law. Although the newly forged relationship between the Christians and the Muslims will no doubt come into it somewhere.

EDIT: Sioux, jesus didnt set you free from anything. Gentiles were not under Jewish law. You cannot be set free from something you were never under in the first place.

EDIT: Please ignore Doug. No Jewish court would have ever stoned to death a 13 year old rape victim like the Arabs just did under Sharia Law last week. The Jews were not, and are not, animals like that.

Christians do not advocate for the USA to be governed by "God's law" We do not stone women for adultery or children for being disobedient. We go by the bible on certain things but that is up to us not the laws of the land. Women are allowed to vote, drive a car, and get an education and treated like a human being. When a law oppresses certain parts of humanity and says because of gender or skin color or where they come from they have special rules that do not apply to every member of society then that is wrong. Laws should apply to all persons equally. rich and poor alike when one class gets special privileges that is just wrong.

No, we would have exactly what we have now. But if you are in reality asking if the combination of church and state, which is in our near future, is going to make changes, yes, quite a few, and they will be much like the law of the muslims. Especially for the true children of God, who will be the focus of most of the restrictive and persecuting laws that will be enacted.

You are confusing the laws of the old covenant with Christians. Christians are not party to the old covenant; they are party to the new covenant-- a law of faith; a law of the spirit, and not the letter (Romans 7:6: II Cor. 3).

    Get your facts strait first.

Sharia law is almost identical to the old Mosaic law, in both scope and purpose.

For your information, the basis of U.S. Law can be found in Christian precepts of justice and morality.
