I am designing a HTML page and i need some help?

I am designing a simple HTML page for a class project. When i give the tag to link the pages[using 'a href'], the link in the webpage comes in blue[guess it is the default color] but i need to change the color of it. I tried giving the <font color" "> tag but didn't work. Can someone tell me wat should be done. Thank you.

    select hyperlink right click on it, go to hyperlink-properties, style,patterns and finally there would appear "front" click on that and choose any colour it may help you...
