Is sky+ really as good as Sky make out it to be?

I feel like I am the only one who hasnt got Sky+ as most of my friends have it and say its great,but was wondering what you guys think of it and is it really a "must" or would you recomend just carrying on with my existing sky box,we've survived like we are for years therefore I cant see why Sky+ would make life easier here.

    I don't even have ordinary Sky and I don't feel as though I'm missing out.

    I'm not a big watcher of television though. I'm lucky if I watch 10 hours a week.
