Book terminology question?

We've been looking through the Publishers and Artists yearbook as my partner has written a fantasy novel (which, by the way is amazing and most the literary agents state "...or first 50 pp of novel" or something similiar. They also mention unsolicited MSS.

Is anyone up on literary agent terminology?

    pp = pages

    mss = manuscripts

    unsolicited = someone sent them an ms from out of the blue, rather than through a contract or a specific request. Sending unsolicited manuscripts is the literary equivalent of door-to-door sales or cold calling.
