Better tires. The Goodyear Integrity tires that are OE on the base (non-Touring) North American Prius are well-known for loosing traction (kicking in the Prius' agressive traction control, which slows you down). Grippier tires will help you accelerate, and are also safer for you.
you can't buy it, but a better trained right foot and ear. you want more acceleration? push the accelerator pedal down further!
One of the causes of this slow/low horsepower belief I think is the eCVT. A lot of people are used to listening to the sound of the engine to know what speed they're doing, what gear they're in, etc. In the Prius, the sound of the engine isn't related to wheel speed, but to the amount of power requested from the engine. If someone isn't forewarned, and they try to floor it during a test drive for a tough left turn or accelerating onto a difficult highway, they could hear the engine roar and instinctively think that they're straining the engine (rev limiter on the Prius won't allow that), and the driver will back off of the accelerator to quiet the engine down. Less pressure on the accelerator = less acceleration = perception that the Prius is slow.
Otherwise, if you follow what autospeed magazine has done, you could put a turbo on your Prius. (of course, the low-emissions that the Prius was built for will go away...) the author, Julian Edgar, does occasionally post on the Prius_Technical_Stuff yahoogroup, which is where you could also get more info.

You could turbo it (yes it has been done before) but it would be custom as I am not aware of any available kits. You would have to be careful though since there is a dampener assembly that resembles a permanently engaged clutch between the engine and the PSD that limits the maximum torque to protect the MGs and the PSD from damage and if you boost the engine output too much it will slip and be ruined. If it does slip it will set a fault code and trigger a warning light. I am not completely for sure but I think the dampener is there so that if the engine locks up due to lack of oil or if it sucks in water the dampener will just slip instead of MG1 over-speeding and either exploding due to centripetal force or producing a high enough voltage and current to damage the inverter and HV battery.

You would have to reprogram the computer.
It controls all the power flow in the vehicle from the electric motor to when the gas starts and how much it revs.

Saw of the exhaust and straight pipe it. Get some headers. Get bigger rims other than the standand 12 inch ones it comes with.
Put a loud tip for the muffler. Ride around saying, "you want some of this??? This here Prius is gonna waste you!!!" as you are staring down the 6-year-old girl on a pink bike.
That's sad.. :...(

throw in more batteries!. just kidding just add a bigger exhaust and new cone style air intake that should add like 1-5 hp not much but that car was not designed for power just fuel economy and power does not really like economy. take all that money you saved with that car and buy a motor cycle those have all the power you need
