Maybe I don't understand "sin"?

For what am I supposed to feel bad about or repent?

Update:

Looks like I should clarify something. I only ever felt bad about four things: Doing or saying something I wish I hadn't, and not doing or saying something I wish I had. I make up for things where I can, and learn from them as well.

But I've never felt like I had to be "perfect", or that I, or anyone else, was inherently bad. I have been punished and shamed for being imperfect, but that's others doing something to hurt or shame me, not me feeling bad for not living up to someone else's idea of what I should be.

Sin is not about how you personally feel about your acts. Sin is only considered bad because God revealed to us through the Law that it was wrong.

I don't repent because I personally feel bad about lusting, or telling an occasional lie. I repent because I love God, and because I love him I want to keep his commandments. Nothing more. Sin is a loyalty test. If you love God, you will want to do His will, and therefore keep his commandments even if they contradict that which you personally believe is acceptable. If you don't love God, then you have no reason to follow his rules. Simple as that.

Nobody can save themselves, even by following all of the rules. Only by the grace of God will anyone be saved. Therefore, if you don't love God, don't even worry about sin, because you've chosen your loyalty already and it's not with Him.

    What is sin ?

Sin is the breaking of the law !

    What law ?

God's law as laid down in the Bible.

Some say that the law was done away with, so how do they know what sin is ?

Because without the law, there is no sin, and if that is so why did Jesus say:

Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

(To do His Commandments, means to obey God's law)

    Examples

    1. Let's say we had a competition. You throw a rock wherever God throws. God starts at New York and throws a rock all the way to Greenland. You're not gonna get nearly as far as He did. You have missed the mark of God.

    2. Let's say God wants to make a cake. He needs sugar. As he pours the jar of sugar, he notices a couple black grains, and does not want to use them. They are unpure. They are unwanted in a cake. You are the black grains

As an imperfect being, you trod on God's desire for perfection. You are a disappointment and a disgrace. So are your friends. So am I. We basically spit in the face of God every time we screw up big time. But what's wonderful is Jesus Christ's sacrifice which is so central to Christianity.

Biblically speaking, sin is 'missing the mark', falling short of God's expectations. I'm not here to witness, just to explain. It is said that you will feel guilt for what you do wrong, so 'repenting' means basically saying that you are sorry and not doing it again.

Sin is an offence against God as well as a fault against reason, truth, and right conscience. Sin is a deliberate thought, word, deed, or omission contrary to the eternal law of God. In judging the gravity of sin, it is customary to distinguish between mortal and venial sins. Mortal sin is a grave infraction of the law of God that destroys the divine life in the soul of the sinner, constituting a turn-away from God.Venial sin does not destroy the divine life in the soul, as does mortal sin, though it diminishes and wounds it.The Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation is necessary for sins to be forgiven.Since Christ entrusted to his apostles the ministry of reconciliation, (John. 20:23; Cor.5:18) bishops who are their successors, and priests, the bishop's collaborators, continue to exercise this ministry. Indeed bishops and priests, by virtue of the sacrament of Holy Orders, have the power to forgive all sins "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit".

Christian sin is anything which is in conflict with this:

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.

God declares we break his Laws.

We need to ask God for salvation so that we do not have to pay for our own Sins. Jesus died in our place to remove Sin from us.

To be a sinner is to break God's moral Laws.

God says that those who break his laws if they do not repent will receive spiritual death which is separation from god.

"Sin", like everything else, is in the eye of the beholder. As far as I'm concern, only gratuitous murder qualifies.

Are you really saying you have never felt that you did something wrong?

If you truly feel that way, I feel sorry for you because it shows an extremely calloused conscience.
