Looking at nursing programs and wondering about your experiences?
I have been looking at two different programs, one an RN program, the other an LPN program. I was just wondering what different people have experience with. The thing is, the RN program is at a school that is nearly an hour away, and the LPN program is much closer to my home. Also, the RN program has the availability of completing the program on a fast track if you are already an LPN. Would it be worth it to do the LPN program then transfer to save myself the commute, or should I just go straight for the RN program from the start? I've definately got a lot more research to do, and plan on talking to people from both schools, but I'm looking for some other input. Thanks!

Just go for the RN program. LPNs are being phased out of the hospital environment. Most only work in nursing homes. So that limits your job opportunities......

An LPN can work in nursing homes, group homes, correctional facilities, doctor's offices, and for home health care agencies.
With the price of gas these days I think you should seriously consider going to the school that will save you from a long commute. Then transfer to the RN program when you are ready.
