How can I reset my Win XP password?

try booting from the Windows XP Recovery CD, then go to the dos prompt C:>. Once the dos prompt is shown issue the following command

net user username password

e.g. net user administrator mypassword

Also, try rebooting computer, press F8, and login to Safe Mode. Usually the default Administrator in Safe Mode doesn't have a password, unless you did provide one for it. By luck, there might be another account there hidden from Normal Mode. Login to that account, which would usually be an Admin account, then if you are able to go in, click Start>Run then issue the following command

control userpasswords2

Click the account you want to reset the password. Then click the Reset button.
