Does the Inclusion of Angels Make Abrahamic Religions Polytheistic?
When I look at the powers attributed to Angels in Judaism, Islam and Christianity, it brings to mind similar powers attributed to minor Gods in various polytheistic religions. In fact, many of the minor Greek Gods seem to have lesser powers than Angels. There is nothing to indicate that a being like Pan could destroy a whole army over night like the Angel that destroyed Sennacherib's army did. It seems to me that in any other religion, "Angels" would be classified as Gods or at the very least demigods. Can someone give me a good reason as to why that would not be so?
I already know that angels are not worshiped and that their powers derive from God in these religions. However, that does not answer my question. Many minor deities in various religions are not really worshiped. Some demonstrate no powers whatsoever and only claim to "godhood" is being a child or creation of another deity.

Hebraic monotheism developed out of a rich polytheistic environment. There are echoes of that throughout the earliest layers of Torah and also much evidence that it took a long while for the people to give up their earlier practices.
Angels were a way of integrating pre-Judaic beliefs.

Angels admit that their 'power' is strictly from God's authority.
Since the angelic split with Satan seducing 1/3 of the angels, The angels do not practice or entertain any thought other than following directions from their respective leader.
Angel simply means "messenger" for the old and new Testaments.

Without God, those Angels would have no power. Angel, as a word, means messenger. The word translated from Hebrew as Angel is also a word for messenger. They are not God and do not have the powers of God.

Angels are not gods. God uses angels to display His power and Authority, just as He uses humans to be a witness to God's power. Peter and John healed people by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Angels are created by God, just as man and everything else has been created by Him. Angels obey God and are His servants. They perform many tasks and keep the world in being by obeying God’s commands.

Not exactly. If one prays to an angel, then technically that would be worshipping a god before god.

No. While angels are attributed with many powers, their authority is limited and granted them by god.
Just like a policeman has no authority other than that which society grants.

i have wondered this. not about angels, because generally people do not worship or pray to angels. rather about the holy trinity-the father, the son and the holy spirit- and saints, who are prayed to. i think technically the abrahamic faiths are monotheistic because they officially only worship one god.

Yes ...... if you consider them as a deity and worship them within the religion.
No ...... if you acknowledge them only as simply part of the religion's history.

true. Angels and the trinity are very polytheistic You see angles are very much like nymphs or demigods in the sense of power they have..btw Much of abrahamic religions borrowed myths from previous religions and mythologies. i mean there are plenty of examples of virgins births,resurrection.
