How do you get PDFs to display the same fonts everywhere?

I have Adobe Acrobat and I'm trying to convert a Word document into a PDF. It is set to embed fonts. The whole point of putting it into a PDF is so we can mail it around and it will look the same to everyone. However, when viewed on another computer (which presumably doesn't have our special font), it displays wrong. No error was displayed during the creation of the PDF.

How do you convert a Word doc to a graphic file? the documents are generally only 1 or 2 pages, so that wouldn't be too demanding on my tme.

It is possible that the fonts that you are embedding are being replaced on the receiver's end because of a setting the receiver has set in their copy of Adobe Reader or elsewhere in their OS.

Two things that you can do to minimize this problem is to:
1. Carefully check that Acrobat is set to embed *all* fonts, not just some fonts (believe it or not, you can limit the number of fonts that get embedded or have this particular setting selected if you don't realize it needs to be changed)
2. Convert each page of your Word document into a graphic file, open the files in Acrobat, set Acrobat to stitch the pages back together, and save the Acrobat file before sending it out.

Testing option 1 first will be less work than 2, but #2 is an option if you are desperate enough to use it!
