What is your opinion on Alienware? Is it worth the cost?

Alienware is worth it if you want to have a gamers quality system without building it yourself.

Most gamers have equivalent systems for performance and save a pretty penny building it themselves. But it's about the status symbol and how Overclocked it is ect...

All in all Alienware is a good gamers PC out of the Box if you don't build it yourself from the ground up since it's a lot more expensive that way.

They look cool, but are WAAAY overpriced.

You could build your own system with a cool case for far cheaper. Hell, go to a computer store (not best buy, etc, but an actual computer store) and get them to build it for you for an extra $50.

You could even go through the alienware site, customize your computer and keep track of what parts you are using. Be warned that a lot of parts used by alienware are definitely not necessary to have a great computer, and they often use parts which cost more but have little extra impact on your computer performance.

Spend big bucks today, and still something on your PC will be obsolete tomorrow. I'd look at the specs on several of the latest games and just buy a PC that can handle them. Get a PC with as much RAM as possible (not just 1 or 2 gig) plus make sure it has a dedicated graphics card with at least 512mb memory. In other words, get the best PC you can really afford and don't try to have the best PC in the world. You'd need to be Donald Trump, and but a new PC every week!

Most of the laptops are resonably well prices because of the quality of their building standards and laptops are quite expensive anyways.

Their desktops are way over priced tho.This is only true if you know how to build computers yourself, or have a competent friend that can do it for you.

Alienware make quality systems, but you pay the price for it. You can get something with a much better spec if you build the system yourself.

Depends on your income. If you have extra cash laying around to spend on trumped up computer hardware, then take a look. Lots of other alternatives out there to get nice computers that can perform just as well or better.

If you are willing to build a system, you would do much better by doing it yourself.

Depends on which model and how much you want to spend. The prices for the computers have come down to the actual cost of the hardware and its value compared to a number of years ago before dell bought them. Before Dell bought them you were really paying for their name and they had terrible customer service. Now I would expect them to be better and be a better value PC maker. If you know what you are doing then build your computer its much cheaper in the long run and then when you want to update it then you will know what hardware you have.

If you can build your own PC do it, its cheaper and we last longer b/c as parts become outdated you ccan replace them.

Alienware is a good price for high power machines and overpriced for its bottom range in my opinion. Hope that helps!
