Is it true that rat poison contains only a small part of poison and the rest is "good"?
I ve heard a statement that rat poison contains over 90 percent of "good" things, which dont kill the rat and only a little rest is the real poison. Is that true? If yes, why is it that way?

All pesticides are based on a milligram to killigram kill rate
The amount of poison necessary to kill a rat is significantly lower than to kill. say a large dog
Look at the active ingredient of any pesticide and you will see that it is over 90% inerts
Those inerts include the attractant material and Ipecac among other things
The ipecac is added to induce vomiting which rodents can't do
This is added as a safety measure to keep the poison from killing non target animals like, say a large dog
The antidote is Vitamin K which is found in large quantities inmost pet food in large
So most pets , including large dogs, are already antidoted against the poison which makes them 50% to 90% more resistant to it
Rodenticides are usually Coumadinn these days, a simple blood thinner also given to heart patients in low doses
So it may not be good materials just inerts that are necessary in the production of the product for one reason or another
Rats will eat pure raw poison we used to do it all the time
look up Red Squill, Stricnine Zinc Phosphide

It needs to be partly good or the rat won't eat it. The poison will still be enough to kill the rat although it is not a very quick death.

If they just put out raw poison, the rats would not eat it. They therefore mix it in a proper ratio to encourage the rat to eat enough of both the food and poison together to die.

Poisons are not stable materials so they need stabilisers that takes a significant portion of the 90% to make them last a lot longer, the rest are inert materials. Also, it is a whole lot harder to convince a rat to swallow 100% poison anyway.

It is true, and the do that to convince the rat to eat it.... The poison is super concentrated to the point of one granule could kill a large dog!

lots of the 1000's of observed compounds in cigarettes are poisonous. the most dramatic of those is Hydrogen Cyanide, which passive those who smoke even ought to put up with! This reinforces the impressive causes for the smoking ban.

the thing with poisons (not just rat poison) or even medicines like advil.....in small portions, our bodies (or any life forms bodies) will grow an immunity to the chemical. our body will have just the right amount to figure out how to work around the harmful chemical (because we experienced it) and slowly over time....a long time we wont be affected by it...or less affected. in large amounts any chemical can just overwhelm the body and can kill us or do some serious damage because our body hasnt had time to experience what the chemical is....chemical works too fast for the body to figure out how to fight it. its like....chicken pox....once you get it you dont get it again because your body knows how to fight it....it recognizes what it is so it knows how to fight it.
