What are my options? need advise?

mark's answer is great. i personally assure you this is an isolated case. the 3.3/3.8 engine family has been around for almost 20 years now and is the best engine Chrysler has ever produced. the 3.5/4.0 engines have been around since 1992, and they have been great too. go back to the dealer and get your free engine and forget about it. it won't happen again. my 94 3.3 has 215,000 on it and runs perfectly.

This is what warranties are for, on rare ocassion, there are manufacturer defects that will cause just such a problem. Unfortunately, you just happened to get one of the few that had a problem.

The vehicle only had 1700 miles, so they can't say it was due to a lack of maintenance, there's really no way they can't warranty it.

You can have the repairs done at any Chrysler dealer, it does not have to be done at the dealer that sold you the van. They should also offer you a rental or loaner vehicle while yours is being repaired. If they don't willingly offer you a vehicle, tell them you want one before you leave. You should be able to take the rental vehicle home with you, but you will likely have to go back to get the vehicle once it is finished. They should allow a few extra days rental since you'll have to travel back to get the vehicle. They may even offer to have someone drive yours back to you and take the rental back once it is finished (ask, they probably won't offer this willingly, but it never hurts to ask, and they just might do it given the circumstances).

Your options other than letting a dealer repair it are to trade it in on another vehicle, or try to sell it yourself. Either way, you will take a hit on what you paid to what you'll get back for it. How big a hit you take will depend on several factors, including the local vehicle market, what you trade it in on, etc.

You don't have a case for a buy back under lemon laws unless they can't fix it, or unless it happens again a few more times after they fix it (you've got better chance of hitting the lottery than having this happen again). Even then, it is a lengthy process that is not as easy as just saying I want you to buy it back under lemon laws.

The great thing about the Chrysler is, if it EVER happens again while you own the vehicle (assuming you're the first owner), it will be repaired under the lifetime warranty. Just be sure to keep to the maintenance schedule, keep receipts for all work done, and take it in for the 5-year check-ups on the anniversary of the purchase date. NO OTHER company offers that warranty!

Well that is a warrenty issue so they will replace the engine for free. you can try and trade it in but im sure that you will be upside down. It would have been upside down anyway as minivans especially American makes depreciate very fast we just sold a 2007 grand caravan with 22K miles on it with captains chairs and rear DVD entertainment for $13K at our lot sitting next to it was a 2005 Honda odyssey with less options and 50K miles on it for 15K. Now that the engine has been replaced (which will show on a carfax) the ~$5K of negative equity you probably had a week before Easter is now probably more like ~$8K the trade in value of that car is prabably about $26-28K depending on options.

Just let your local dealer handle the problem. Of course it's covered. Chrysler has a great warranty program. You'll get a new complete engine. In the first 12 months or 12000 miles you should get a free rental car to drive until its done.

I own a salvage yard and I see new vehicles being totaled because of issues like this. The insurance is going want to put a new OEM engine inside the minivan, but if you push the issue you should be able to get a trade in credit, but only if you didn't run the engine w/o oil for 630 miles

take it back to were got it from .the engines are ok as a norm.and don t pay for the work.the elic is the normal problem cause the computer system kills the batetrie and dont jump start it in less you got a batterie pack voltage protection unit on it. cause if you do it with out it you could blow a bit of the computer

Take it back to the dealer for repairs, Hopefully the warranty covers the repairs and then call your lawyer. See if you can get the car "lemon" lawed and have them take it back.

What if I come over and steal the van.

thats why they put warrantys on them, just take it to a dealer and have it fixed. any make of car coulda done the same thing.

on the tip of the day, you may choose. i in my opinion could pick historic previous over Geography, yet it relatively is basically my decision. %. which one you like, and don't unfastened any sleep over it. basically pick, and study stressful, and you gets a great result!
