I run Myah OS. the http://myah.org/ websites.
You can do everying you can think of in the world but here is the real answer. You need people and lots and lots of people hitting your site. Those ads are not worth anything. You will only make money off a site if you have literally thousands of sites.
I notice when I do an announcement on distro watch I get 1 day that makes about 10 bucks. Then another that makes 6 to 8 and it keeps dropping for about 4 days until it's so small you could laugh or cry. But I get a huge number of hits in those days. Because there is a tone of sites posting that article. But it's short lived. People put those adds up just to offset the cost of running the site. But it's not a money maker is anyway.

Here are some answers which I hope will help and I hope you're not offended:
1- Very poor layout
The visitor is not visually guided to the content and "subtle" ads.
2- Amaturish design
The site is too wide ...
On my 17" hi res monitor I still get the horizontal scroll bar appearing coz your website is too wide
3- Poor ad placement
4- Too many ads
Too many inline contextual ads early in the text shout this is all for advertising.
Too many other ads crowd the screen and drown the content. So the visitor runs away.
5- No analytics
I bet you don't have proper site analytics. If you did you'd probably see some form of analysis. And that would tell you your visitors do not hang about more than a few seconds.
My suggestion is the first thing you need to do is get yourself a nice, neat & new Web 2.0 (ie modern) template.
You may even look into Joomla (http://www.joomla.org/) CMS (content management system). It is free and you get some fabulous deisgns. And there are lots of plugins for it too, to add all sorts of functionality.
Install site analytics and oserve what's going on, on your site. Try both Google Analytics and Google Website Optimizer. Both are free and both can be used without having anything to do with Adsense or Adwords etc.
Don't expect an "instant kill". Proivde good conent with (reduced) contextual advertising and focus on increasing the the stickyness of your site, ie the amount of time the reader stays on your site and the number of returning readers. These 2 put together will increase the click thru rate (CTR) of your site.
YOu may also then do two things increase traffic to your site and also start building an optin list. With an optin list, you can send a newsletter eg when you have new content added and also include ads in your newsletter. This will make you vastly more money than site advertising.
Good luck
