What is there to do near Fort Hood/ Killeen, TX?
Me and my sister are going to visit my brother in Killeen (He's stationed at Fort Hood.) We are staying in Copperas Cove. I'd like to find stuff to do within an hour of Killeen or Copperas Cove. Thanks!

My bro is stationed at fort hood also and him and his buddies love goin to Austin. They go to bars ant stuff and spend the weekend there. Apparently it's loads of fun, too bad you just missed the mardi gra they had. Do NOT hang out in Killeen!!! My brother and his buddies were down there and he got JUMPED! He is not in the hospital with a broken ankle, a broken wrist and possibly even a fractured cheek bone.

Dallas if you're preppy and like em snobby.
Austin if you're laid back & like the night life & music scene.
Both are about an hours away.
Killeen/Copperas Cove is very little (tiny!) oh and the only thing you need to remember is DO NOT SPEED not even one mile over the speed limit.... go super slow EVERYWHERE around there.. cops are rediculous!
Hope to see yal in Austin!!

Austin is within an hour and has lots to do. I would suggest going there in the early evening and hitting up 6th Street.
The Bob Bullock Texas History Museum is very modern and
cool. Congress St has lots of neat shops. Be sure to have dinner or lunch at Chuys... or Seranos and dont forget to hit up the dueling piano bar on 6th st.
Salado is about 30 min from Fort Hood. It is a cool little town with lots of artists and cool little eclectic shops. It has a great mexican resturant that is in a mansion. Super food and margaritas
Belton Lake is a fun place also.
Waco has a nice zoo... really nice and the Dr. Pepper museum is there also.
Also, FT Hood has two super museums. You really need to check them out. Lots of military vehicles and aircraft to photograph. Fort hood itself can be an interesting adventure. There are 10 miles of motor pools.
There are lots of cool little places to go. I would avoid Dallas (too far away). But Austin has tons to do, see and experience. Enjoy your trip!

if you and your sister are of legal age you will be in heaven because of all the guys. A lot of good clubs. Also, its not too far from Austin if you get bored.

i've been surfing the web more than three hours today looking for answers to the same question, and I haven't found a more interesting discussion like this. it is pretty worth enough for me.
