What do you think about Germans??

Good evening...

I'm from Germany and I'm very interested in your opinion about germans today.

I mean, over 60 years after WW II do you think we are still nazis or what is your opinion about germans?

My personal opinion is that I take each person as I find them. Anyone who considered all Germans to be Nazis (or anything else) is just as ignorant an bigoted as anyone who despises all Indians, all Mexicans, or all Negroes...

Now politically, as a nation, as a whole, may be an entirely different story... I think that the young people of Germany who were born after 1945 have had a difficult time and have paid a penalty socially for the crimes committed by and the belief systems held by their parents. I can see that that would have been very difficult for them to overcome. However, I don't believe that the German children born to that generation (say from mid 60's on) have held on to the beliefs of their grandparents who were Nazis as a rule. Surely there are some who have remained misguided, as there are in every country. When I visited Germany, I felt very comfortable, very welcomed and a kinship with the Germans I met. When I got of the plane, and could not find a bellman to help with my luggage transfer to the train, I went to a cart station, and of course did not have the correct coins for unlocking a cart. A very kind gentleman offered me the correct coin and showed me how to get the cart out of the lineup. He would not take my money - he was just being kind. What a nice person. Then I met some peopleon the train who were very kind and friendly, and we enjoyed our visit tremendously. Later in Munich, I met other people who were great fun and insisted on taking me to a museum the next day as they like it too. We became friends and still write cards occaisionally. I find that everywhere Igo there are nice people. I had a fabulous time and would love to return to Germany and see even more and meet more people. Only someone very narrow minded and ignorant would judge the entire country and its people by the actions of so many years ago. the world has changed a great deal since then...

I think Germans are the cutting edge of the European Economy and development. And Germans are interesting, and fun. I would love to visit the country sometime. I am Canadian. I had a retired German couple who were friends and had several visitors from Germany over the years. He was a WW2 veteran.

When I think of Germans, I don't think Nazis. When I think Nazis, I think Nazis. 60 years later I think Germans are too sensitive about it, they can relax a bit. But i guess if it was me, it would be tough as every troll on here would use it against you.

I played music in Germany for about 7 years on & off, mainly in Dresden. The Germans love 60's music & respond really well to songs they know. They really know how to let their hair down & party which surprised me as before I went there I always thought of them as being stiff & formal. I now know that's not right & I really love the place & the people. They certainly are well informed re world events, not like us Brits. Where are you from?

I met some very nice German folks at University in England, where I'm from.

So yeah, I like Germans. Sometimes I think present-day Germans suffer unfairly for things which happened in the past.

I have only ever been to Germany once, on a trip to the Rhine Valley a few years ago. It was lovely, such a beautiful place and all the people I met there were kind and friendly and helpful. I loved the place and the people.

    too energentic:)

I have enjoyed visiting Germany, but my goodness Germans are industrious. Almost exhaustingly so. They remind me of Americans that way, while Austrians seem to be more at a Canadian pace. Hope that made sense to you.

Ya'll have kick-@ss beer. And during the war, ya'll had some bad-@ss weaponry. I was in Garlstedt back in '79, and the people either ignored us or tried to kill us. But I'd go back, just to see the scenery if nothing else.
