Use sandpaper or drywall screen for sanding joint compound?

the screen allows the dust to fall away instead of clumping up on the sandpaper. you can also wet sand with a damp sponge.

Drywall screens on a hand sanding block or pole sander will carry the dust off the wall better and will outlast ordinary sandpaper. They also give a much more consistent final appearance than sandpaper does which has a lot of inconsistencies in the grit. Wear a mask and give yourself plenty of ventilation and stay away from halogen droplights with excessive sanding in small confined areas..the lights have been known to ignite the dust in the air.

I think You will get better results from a drywall screen. Its specialized for joint compound and drywall.

Its all depends on how big the hole is., you didn't say. If its really big, you might have to buy sheet-rock, and rip out the old, and put in the new, mud, texture, and paint. If its a small hole, there is a little kit at Wally World with a piece of metal with an adhesive backing mess, clean the hole up, stick the patch on, and put dry-wall mud, or you can use spackle to cover the patch up. You let it dry completely, sand it, and then paint it. Its simple., but like I said, it all depends on the size of the hole. Good Luck!!!!!
