Ford Focus Sync I-Pod Issue?
Just purchased an 08 Focus. Had no trouble hooking up phone. Now I cannot connect the i-pod via USB. The lady keeps saying no line in. Ive check the ford website and the ipod i have is a recommended one for sync. Just seeing if anyone has encountered same issue. Im also using an aftermarket usb since dog chewed up original usb.

A couple of things:
Make DOUBLE SURE that your iPod is supported by sync via a direct USB connection - some early iPods need a special cable (available from Keyspan) that split the iPod connector into USB and Line In. See "sync-compatible media players" on syncmyride.com
If your iPod is supported with a direct USB cable, make sure the USB cable works with a PC/Mac - can you load songs with it? If this works, and it is compatible with Sync over just USB, then start the vehicle, plug in the iPod. The iPod should be indexed by Sync - this copies the song's metadata from the iPod into Sync, and readies it to be used. Once indexing is complete, you should be set to go.
Once you push "Aux", you should see "USB" or similar on the display. You can also press the push to talk switch on the steering wheel and say "USB" - this should force the audio source to the iPod. Remember, only do this after the iPod has indexed.
As I think about the fact that you are using an aftermarket cable, this may end up being an issue. If you have a friend with an iPod, you may want to borrow their cable to see if that fixes the problem as well. (You can also just plug in their iPod too, but you'll want to listen to your own stuff, right?!!).
Hope this helps.

easy enough to change a thermostat but it may be restricted flow in heater matrix or collapsing hose? check to see if temp gauge fluctuations are occurring at same Time with fuel gauge? if so its a voltage stabiliser problem not related to engine heating. for small price of thermostat I would change it and back flush heating matrix and check all pipes for competence.
