What would you do if you found out that one of your neighbors was...?

My neice is dating a serial rapist. My sisters say I need to treat him like another human being and forgive him for his wrongly actions. I never met him and if I did I don't remember him. If I were to see him what would I do? I know I would be rude but why? He's getting punish by dating my screwball neice. It's no different than a person dating or married to a racist or prejudice person. In Calif we have a restriction zone for all serial rapists not to be near a church, school or children. If a resident finds out those rapist must move immediately. I know it doesn't sound nice but we don't make the laws. I know two wrongs don't make it right. I just go with the flow of things. If you stress of who's living in your neighborhood than everyone would be up all night biting their nails and holding onto a bat. I understand everyone wants to live in a safe and peaceful neighborhood. Unfortunately, Human Rights Organizations will step in and seek a compliant of unfair justice to these predators. It would make us innocent people seem like criminals and the rapist is the victim. Ok, I got off track to your question but I would do nothing if it's not bothering the law enforcement than why bother. On the other hand, I would set up a routine neighborhood watch in my area.

Do? Nothing different than what I do every single day ~ protect my children to the best of my ability.

The sex offender registry lists all offenders, not just pedophiles. I have a friend who is a registered sex offender stemming from a statutory rape charge when he was 19 and his then girlfriend was 17 (just shy of 18) and her parents flipped out and pressed charges. So not everyone on that list is a danger to my children. As a parent I am obligated to remain hyperviligant at all times and cannot let a list dictate to me when and when not to protect my children.

I actually check the Sex Offender Registry monthly to make sure nothing has changed in our neighborhood. Once I found out there was a freak down the road that had just moved in. He was renting illegally and had not followed the law and notified the neighborhood so I contacted his landlord, and went to the police station and let them know he was being forced to move and they needed to make certain he gave his new address. He moved. New address. Now he is someone else's problem.

Man, of all the ways to identify potential threats I never would have thought to look at all the pictures on a site with pictures of sex offenders and compare them to my neighbors. Thats a whole other level of paranoid.

Sorry, I've never heard of these sites and how they work, I'll probably be thinking about that kind of stuff if I ever have kids.

Ha! My neighbor on the right in 76 years old. My neighbor on the left is 83. They couldn't have a sexual experience if their lives depended on it.

What can you really do. No crime no time. Just be on the look out. I think your smart to do that. I checked out my landlords

We have a huge illegal population in our area. Guess what, we have a huge percentage of Hispanic sex offenders. I know that is just coincidence according to the pro-illegal crowd.

We also have a serial rapist who has been identified as Hispanic.

You now have this information to protect your kids. This information allows you to be on the alert from a predatory personality.

I'd treat him like anybody else. But if he ever touched my kids I'd kill him.
