Filipinos still have a love of all things imported. When my granduncle goes home from the US, his bags are stuffed with these "traditional" pasalubong items: chocolates, canned goods, soaps, and shirts (all made in the US of course).
If most of your relatives have traveled overseas themselves, they might appreciate some "non-traditional" pasalubong like native handicrafts from the country where you are staying.

I try not to ask what they want for pasalubong for fear that they might ask for something ridiculously expensive like an iPod or something (which really happend to a friend of mine). Often they think we live like kings here....
So, I just bring some chocolates, souvenir T-shirts, adn other items that I know my relatives will love and appreciate.

Chocolate always works! My relatives always appreciate them. They definitely enjoy chocolate that can't be found in the Philippines =D
P.S. Your English is good!

Your english is very good, much better than my Tagalog!
I try to think what each person needs when i take gifts, the children usually get a book for their education - boring but more useful than something trivial.

You may ask them what they want and if you can afford it do so. Or give something that you can afford. I guess it's not the price that counts,it's the thought that counts that you remember them.
