There are no governmental benefits for being a lawyer. It is a job, just like any other job, you just have to go to law school and pass a test (the bar exam) to get it. Being a lawyer does not make you a governmental employee. The benefits any lawyer gets are whatever their employer offers, just like any other employee.
Note: This is from experience in the United States. Things can be different in other countries.

nothing financial unless they're public defenders...but moreso credability as far as constitutionality is concerned, more than the average Joe off the street anyway. But they have to be careful politically and legally or they can loose their liscence just like any doctor.
