Hi English D
Hi THere
Here are some ideas to heal the issue.
Quick Action Plan for Emphysema
Stop smoking. Alternative therapies only work if you discontinue smoking and avoid exposure to secondhand smoke.
1. Inhale steamed vapors of the essential oils of eucalyptus and pine; massage the essential oils of cedarwood, eucalyptus, or peppermint into the chest daily.
2. Ayuvedic physicians recommend boiling two to three cloves of raw, organic garlic in water; when tender, crush them, add them to the water and drink.
3. Be screened for food allergies and sensitivities, and then avoid eating those foods to which you are allergic or sensitive.
4. Do not eat sugar, wheat, or soy products, soft drinks, commercially processed foods, and all foods containing artificial ingredients. Avoid commercial milk and dairy products, coffee and caffeine products, red meat, salt, refined carbohydrates, corn, chocolate, and hydrogenated and trans fats.
5. Drink eight ounces of pure, filtered water every two hours. Enjoy freshly-made, organic vegetable juices throughout the day using combinations of carrot, celery, spinach, wheatgrass, watercress, and one clove of garlic.
6. Eat organic, whole foods such as fresh, raw fruits and vegetables, soaked raw nuts and seeds, free-range, grass-fed meats, poultry, and wild-caught fish. Regularly have garlic, cayenne pepper, chili peppers, mustard, and onions. Use coconut and extra virgin olive oil, or raw, organic butter.
7. Useful herbs include coltsfoot tea and thyme, peppermint tea, anise oil mixed with honey, mullein, comfrey, fenugreek, licorice root, rosehips, rosemary, slippery elm, and white horehound.
8. Helpful homeopathic remedies are Aspidosperma and Carbo vegetabilis.
9. Try hydrotherapy treatments by applying water, ice, steam, and hot and cold temperatures through full body immersion, steam baths, saunas, and sitz baths.
10. Buy a negative ion generator, a humidifier, and add air filtering house plants to your home and work. Keep your place well ventilated.
11. Useful nutrients include Vitamin C, Vitamins B6, B12, Vitamin E, chlorophyll, coenzyme Q10 (CQ10), folic acid, lecithin, and the amino acids L-cysteine, L-methionine, and L-glutathione.
Best of health to you

You could live to be 100.
BUT....you have to take measures to do that.
Do you smoke? Smoking can cause emphysema, so can second hand smoke. Now would be a GREAT time to look at quitting. Dont do it alone---it isnt easy, talk to your doctor, try a nicotine system---the nicotine system is better for your lungs than what you are breathing in on cigarettes if you are smoking. If you are not smoking, try to avoid ANY second hand smoke.
Eat healthy. Balanced diet. Drink water---get at least your recommended amount each day.
Keep your house clean---dust can be an HORRIBLE trigger, and germs can linger causing you to get illnesses that can make what would be a BAD cold for someone a REALLY REALLY BAD DANGEROUS time for you.
Avoid harmful/harsh fumes. If you need to have someone help you clean your house---or your cat box, now is the time to ask---30 minutes twice a week can do wonders on saving you exposure to dust, and fumes.
Avoid the harshest of cold air---sometimes the cold air is your friend, sometimes it is your enemy. dont let others tell you which it is after you have learned the difference.----this is a hard one to teach others. (having had asthma, it is tough to explain to people without lung problems). There is a GREAT cold air that is AWESOME for breathing---I can go shovel snow in my t shirt and be fine. Then, there are warmer days with a COLD air, that takes my breath away.
Watch out for the hot humid air---again---sometimes, you need SOME humidity---sometimes, too much is a bad thing.
Take your medicine when you get it----LEARN about it. TALK to your pharmacist about your medications----some interact with others---including over the counter ones, and sometimes, doctors are so busy, they "forget" to remind you to stop this medication and start the new one. Keep track of all your medications---what works, what doesnt, what you WERE on, so you do not keep repeating the same things over and over.
But, above all else---live life----Emphysema is not a death sentence......let it be an eye opener---so, you have to be more aware of what is around you, but....see the flowers, hear the birds, feel the sun on your face......watch the wind on the water.

I have it also. I smoked for over 35 years and I quit smoking around 7 years ago but they told me I had it around 3 years now. Make sure you quit smoking right away if your still smoking. I think it is crazy for people to still smoke with Emphysema. They are just shorting there life. You will be able to live a long life if you are not smoking and stay away from other people who smoke. My prayers are with you.

How bad is it. I was diagnosed almost 3 years ago (I quit smoking that day), I take nothing for it, and I'm doing fine. I walked about 6 miles a day during hunting season and can still use my exercise bike. My older brother was diagnosed about 5 or 6 years ago, still smokes, and can't walk 50 feet without resting and using his inhaler.
I'm 52.

I'm really sorry.
I've often pondered what I would do should I be given such news. I think going to a calm place in close contact with nature is the best way to prolong your life, should that be what you want to do. The human body is amazingly resilient sometimes.
I can't give you any estimate.
Good luck.

Aww, I'm sorry to hear that. Pray to God he will heal you if you believe. Read your Bible and go to Church to get other Christians to pray for you. If you believe you will recieve your healing. Read Psalm chapter 103 verse 3. God Bless
