Does the voice of the recorded announcments on the Picadilly line come from a male?

Depends. I think it's high time the Tube went back to my old idea of getting TV and Movie stars to record some announcements.

The old MYNDE THE GAPP was from a recording made back in the 1930s. I think it was the stupidest thing ever done by the Tube management to change it to the sparrow like voice we now get - m iiiiinnd the ....gap! Just crap.

Next time Tom Cruise puts in an appearance at Leicester Sq someone should offer him a chance to record some announcements for the London Underground.

Only ever heard the "mind the gap" robot as a male. On train announcements are invariably women robots christened Sonia by Tube staff because it "get's on ya nerves".

"Mind the Gap" voice is in transition from the male voice to the female voice.

If Piccadilly line doesn't have the womans voice yet , it won't be long before it does.
