laptops should be able to work anywhere but if you're bringing a charger, i'm not sure if your charger plug is compatible with ours. You can buy one of those universal plug things where you attach your plug to it and the other end will automatically fit into our plugs. Also, if you want to use internet and you have wireless, any place with wireless hot spot will work.

Trav'ler may have been a bit misleading with his first sentence.

Your laptop will work here, but to recharge it, you will likely need (at the very least) an adapter to convert the two prong round pin plug that is common in Middle-East and Europe to the three prong North American standards. Also, if you are using 220V, you either need to have an adapter that auto-adjusts or has a 110/220 switch on it. Otherwise, you may need an alternate adapter to charge the laptop.

If it works where you are it will work here

i think what you ar asking is what type of electric current is used here -- 120 Volts at 60 Hertz,

    "Electricity

Like the USA, residential Canada uses 110 volt electrical systems at 60 hertz. You will need a voltage transformer/ converter for your electrical appliances if they operate on a different voltage. There are different types of converters for different types of appliances. Small electronics, razors and non-heating appliances can operate with a 50-watt converter. Heating appliances such as hair dryers, irons, coffee makers and other high-power electrical appliances need a 1600-watt converter. You can also purchase combination converters for both types. Mains wall sockets and plugs for 110 volts are two parallel flat blades. If those sockets are different from the ones used in your country then you will need a socket converter."
