All gone!!!?
When I switched my computer on today and logged in to my account - everything has gone!
All my files, folders, documents, photos, music - EVERYTHING!
Even my "favourites" is empty!
It was fine when I switched off last night - what's happened? And is there any way I can recover the lost data?
(We all know we should 'backup' - but honestly, how many of us actually DO? And I obviously didn't so no point in suggesting it now)
Strangely enough, I like to play cards from a disc I bought. It was one of the things missing so I popped the disc in and loaded it up again. I played my favourite game and when I finished it said I'd played 1 won 1... BUT all the games I'd played previously were there in the stats, just not showing as MINE! How is THAT possible? If all the data was lost, how does it know when I last played cards and how I got on?
I logged in to my granddaughters account - and hers seems to be intact, (well, her chosen photo is still her background anyway.)

Go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, then System Restore.
You might be to turn back the clock on your computer to yesterday or last week and everything still might be there.

1. Try System Restore
2. Try Recuva from www.recuva.com
To System Restore a computer with Windows on it:
A.Win98: Click on Start>Settings>Control Panel>System>System Restore
B.WinXP: Click on Start>Control Panel>Performance and Maintenance>System Restore,(upper left side)
When in the System Restore window,(answer is yes to their question), click on a date tat looks like it's in BOLD numbers, on the calendar. Click on a date that was previous to this problem, to restore your system to that date. If you don't see a bold date, use the Forward/Back Arrows above the calendar, to go back a month, or so. Click OK.

It almost sounds like you logged in under the wrong profile. Try going to My Computer, then the C drive, then Documents and Settings. You should see a directory with your username on it. Try looking in there, for example under My Documents or Desktop to see if your files are still there.
