What to expect......?
from Texas?
At the moment I live overseas but traveled to the States before (CA, MI, NC, SC, GA) but this time I am heading to TX.
You hear alot of horror stories about TX and ppl told me that its kinda "back in time".
I highly doubt that.....but maybe someone who has been there or live in TX can tell me what to expect, where to go, what to do and what not to do?

In the part of Texas I live in all most everyone drives big cars. I am talking about trucks, and suv's. The traffic in Dallas is horrible, and everyone drives fast. We talk slow, have a southern draw, and say "yall" a lot. That is short for you all (everyone). I would suggest seeing the Dallas world aquarium, art museum, and going to the top of reunion tower. Most Texans are really friendly, and will stop to talk to you if you ask them a question.

I've been around the country and some of the world. I just got back from Europe. I grew up in Houston and now live in north Texas.
Big cities have traffic but the latest of everything. Outside of the cities, life may be a little slower but the people generally are as "modern" as in the city. Texas has grown so much in the past 30 years from immigrants, both foreign and domestic, that it is not uncommon at all to hear a foreign language or accent. ( I heard a German guy at the grocery store this morning). So it really isn't an issue these days.
So you can expect the same treatment as you got in the other states you visited which was good I hope.

There may be some little podunk towns that are back in time, but if you're in a big or decent sized city, as I am in Dallas, you can always find something to do. If you're going to be here in the summer, it can be brutally hot here, but the winters are not too bad as long as there is not an ice storm, when people kind of freak out. It won't get really cold till January or February, and even then, it's not as cold as New York, and there might be a little snow, but it doesn't hang around long. The coldest it gets is in the teens.

In some parts it is "back in time" but it's not as bad as everybody says. People in Texas are much more friendly than they are in NY and CA.
It may seem that the people hear are wacko but they really do try their best to make others feel at home.
