teenage pregnancy and abortion?

We all know that in todays generations, premarital sex is common to our teenager. at an early age they already engage in sex and eventually most of them gets pregnant. Do teenagers have the rights to make decisions with regards to aborting the child if they dont want it?

Personally...just my thought...I think they should be made to have the baby and learn responsibility under a court order. The reason why they were put in this situation was because of bad choices. They should be made to take parenting classes and any other other class that they offer. I think if teenagers were made to face their responsibility, they would handle things completely different.

Teenagers think its all glitz and glam to have a baby they can dress up, but when reality hits, they want to pass them off to the grandmother to take care of. I say make the little fast heffas responisible.

First, where are you getting your information? You're woefully mistaken. Premarital sex is common, however, it is dependent on age with the older teens (17, 18, and 19) making up the bulk of those engaging in sex. Younger teens are MORE LIKELY to be virgins today than they ever have been before. And, most DO NOT become pregnant. The US rate is higher than other countries but that does not mean that most teens in the nation become pregnant, they don't. In fact, the US experienced its highest teen pregnancy rate in 1957 - our mother's and our grandmother's were more likely to become pregnant than teen's are today!

Secondly, as to your question, EVERYONE has the right to make decisions about their own body and what happens to it. The final decision rests with the teen, despite whatever her parents believe. The current law DOES support this, just in a more restrictive way than for older Women. If a young woman wants an abortion but fears her parents reaction, she can always get a judicial bypass and have the authority to make the decision herself given to her by a judge.

    Peace,

    Jenn

I am pro-life on abortion. Although it is possible to get an abortion. At the same time though you have to think about many things that play into this factor. Many people say that an ovary or a fetus that is able to get aborted is not living. However, it was not living, how would it grow and develop until it is actually born? Therefore it IS living. And why punish an innocent child in a teenagers rendezvous from which they are not supposed to be having any way. the baby didn't ask to be brought into the world so why take it out before it has a chance to live? the UNBORN baby shouldn't have to suffer for its mother's actions and the father should take full responsibility. I don't think that teenagers have the mental maturity to make a decision like that, although if they don't want one, they shouldn't be told or forced to do so, they are obviously thinking unselfishly, which I think is unusual among teenagers. However, I also don't think that a mother should force her child to have an abortion. Abortion should NEVER be an option but if the decision is made it should be made my a mature adult, who is fully aware of the repercussions of having one. If the teenager does not want to abort their child, NO ONE and I mean no one has the right to tell them otherwise. After all, it's their child and their body.

16+ I believe is the most common age where teenagers can have an abortion without parental consent or knowledge (it depends on the state you live in though)

Normally the 'age of consent' (where you can have sex as a minor -as long as your partner is less than 21 and less than 4 years older than you-) is the age you can have an abortion without parental knowledge or consent.

The problem with this is after an abortion you need someone to drive you home, and will need someone to help you for 2 days or so after the procedure.

i believe in having a choice but i certainly do not believe in abortion as a form of birth control the morals of the young people are failing but i will tell you what when i first found out i was pregnant i was scared shi.tless but i still told my mom and i decided i was going to keep the baby or give it up for adoption unfortuntatly i miscarried but my point is i made the decision to have sex so it was my responsibility to take care of that child or give it to a better family i now have a daughter with the same man that got me pregnant the first time and we are happily married

teens, like the rest of the world have sex drives.

they jus have to be prepared to make a responsible decision in the best interest of the baby, mother carrying the child, father of the child, their futures, and their families. if i walked around pregnant for 9 months i would look like a welfare case, i would sacrafice my body and figure, and giving birth...couldnt imagine it. being a parent is a job for the rest of your LIFE.

if ur mature enough, then teens should have the right to abort if they need to.

Yes, they should be entitled to make a decision. They should not be forced to have a abortion even though they are teenagers. I don't think they should abort the child, there parents should tell them about the other options such as adoption.

From my understanding legally there has to be an adult to consent to the abortion when there is a minor involved. But I'm sure there are some 'underground' clinics that will perform abortions on whoever has the money.

In some places they have the right, but i am completely against this abortion thing. Having an abortion is like putting a gun to someone head and killing them because you are taking someone life! And that same baby could be a doctor, high court judge etc. Who knows, I think parents should be blame because it's the way you grow your child.
