False Stereotypes: Who is responsible for correcting?

Quite often there are those from various groups and cultures that do a very good job in helping to re-enforce the negative or funny beliefs the masses have about their culture. Whereas open educated people must learn not to generalize and stereotype these groups, the groups in question ought to make sure some of their members do not go out and try living up to the stereotype.

To me, stereotype signifies that you cannot make a sweeping statement that all of this group are this and that but on the other hand there is enough output coming from the group to notice some sort of pattern or trend.

You can talk and preach to the ignorant until the cows come home.

Public education on that particular person/group is essential but not overly effective on those that refuse to change their mindset.

Will there always be stereotypes? Yes, as long as the ignorant exist and pass down their less than educated views.
