Invitation to a shoeless party?

Of course not. I tend to remove my footwear when I get home and potter about in slippers or bare feet. Most of my friends all have a "no shoes" rule, and it's become automatic to remove footwear either at the door, or just inside the room. If it's going to be a crowded party, and you're likely to be stood up all night, most women would appreciate the opportunity to remove their shoes. I know I would - stilettos can be killers when you're stood in one spot for most of the night!!

Most people who prefer guests to remove shoes lead by example. To write this on an invitation is unusual and not the sort of invite I would expect to recieve from any of my friends. Is the invite in character for the host? If so then go (after a pedicure!), if you don't know them well enough to know if it is in charcater then remember a prior engagement.

No, I would take my shoes off and party in comfort. I have no problem with removing my shoes in someone else's house if they request it, sometimes it's cultural, others they want to stop their flooring getting ruined. Go and have a great time, just make sure that you ware a nice clean pair of socks.

I 'd go get a pedicure and attend the party. Getting a pedicure would be the same as wearing the best shoes in the house. My husband even got a pedicure before our wedding/honeymoon.

Most people who attend a party end up drunk, smoking outside and dragging the dirt inside!

if it's at someone's home, i would go...i am DEFinitely a shoes-off kinda girl!!

you can always take a pair of slippers or other indoor-only type of shoe to put on after you get there...or call ahead and say 'i really want to attend, however i am very uncomfortable without footwear...would you mind if i bring slippers or an extra pair of shoes to wear?' if you don't like to go bare, and they don't want you to wear anything other than sox, decline.

No, I wouldn't decline but I'd take a really nice pair of slippers and put them on after removing my shoes. You could buy yourself a pair of joke slippers. Would break the ice at any party.

I would totally go. Then I can wear socks, drag my feet across the ground and shock people!

Sometimes it's not fun when there's a "shoes off" rule, because some people have REALLY smelly feet. Bleck!

In Hawaii and other countries where it rains a lot, people take their shoes off at the door.

People who can't deal with shoes should not invite others to their home. Shoes are part of our culture and are probably cleaner than a lot of smelly feet I've seen in my travels.
