my Doctor wants me to stop taking my Prenatal vitamins, 14 days before my c-section why??

Some of the vitamins work as a bit of a blood thinner. I think folic acid is the main culprit. At this stage the vitamins are not helping you or your baby that much anyway. I know because I have a clotting disorder and they always tell you that too many green veggies could thin your blood out.

I've never been in a situation for a c-section, but the best thing to do is ask your doctor, you're paying him for the medical advice :)

You had an emergency c-section last time, you may not have had enough time to stop taking the vitamin. There may be something in the vitamin that could cause complications.

Because vitamins can interact with the drug they give you. They probably would have told you the same thing before... note the word EMERGENCY. It's just a precaution.

Huh that's weird..ask your Dr. I've had 3 c-sections and was never told that BUT they all came earlier then the scheduled surgery date..

Not sure. I never heard of that. Maybe it thins the blood somehow, and it's just a precaution to keep the blood from thinning any extra than it has to. *shrug*

Why didn't you ask your doctor "why?"
