Looking for other's opinions...?
I recently came across a website I found very interesting-- http://www.epm.org/articles/bcp5400.html
Basically, the author outlines how the birth control Pill causes abortions. He cites several resources, including patient handouts from the Pill. I am certainly not looking to argue with anyone, but I would love others opinions on this matter.
Does taking the Pill cause early abortions/miscarriages?
The pill doesn't always stop ovulation. Ovulation supression is it's primary function, but as a back-up it also thickens cervical mucus so sperm can't swim through it and it also alters the lining of the uterus so IF you ovulate and IF the sperm get through and the egg is fertilized, it can't implant into the lining of the uterus.
I guess it is a matter of when you think life begins--at the moment sperm meets egg or when the fertilized egg implants?

I have never researched this but my opinion is no I do not think it causes miscarriages, I mean if you get pregnant while you are taking the pill then yea I think it is possible that you may have one because it is not good to get pregnant while on the pill, but it is not 100% you will have one. If you are talking about being on the pill and then getting off of it and becoming pregnant, no i do not believe it causes miscarriages, sooo many people have been on the pill and it has been around for years and years and everyone has kids, miscarriages are common whether you are on the pill or not

Garbage!
I'm sorry, I get so fed up with some of this stuff! Ask any reputable doctor, and I'm sure they will tell you that the Pill prevents conception. It's hard to have an abortion if you never conceived to begin with. Besides that, if it caused an abortion instead of preventing conception, we'd all be testing positive on pregnancy tests when there's a "scare". Those hormones stick around in your system a while.

What pill? Regular birth control? No, because it keeps you FROM ovulation, which you have to do in order to get pregnant. Plan B "the morning after pill" would be closer to what you are describing, but still not quite accurate.

I'm not going to read his article because the premise is wrong to start with. An abortion presumes a live fetus was in existence. Same with a miscarriage wherein the fetus, for some reason, dies, and sloughs off.
Birth control pills prevent the formation of a fetus. No fetus, no abortion!
