27 weeks pregnant measuring 31???

yesterday I went for my prenatal visit , thrilled that I only gained 3 pounds ( 15 lbs. for the whole pregnancy)I'm still getting HUGE!

I'm measuring 31 weeks and I just got to week 27. my first son was 8 lbs 14 oz at birth ( 38.5weeks)

my doctor said this baby will be larger... how big do you think he'll be?

I'm a little worried ...thank goodness I already have the c-section scheduled!

no rude answers please

When I was pregnant with my daughter, the whole pregnancy I was measuring big. At 31 weeks, they told me she already weighed 5 pds and could be up to 12 pds when she was born! When I was 37 weeks, I was measuring 42 weeks. It's not just about the size of the baby, but also about the position. My doctor still thought she was going to be big, but thought I was measuring big because she had her butt sticking up. In the end, I was induced and the doctors were still thinking I was going to have this 11 lb baby, and she came out weighing 8 lbs even! We proved the doctor wrong! Luckily her weight had leveled off, and she didn't gain much in the end, and maybe that could happen to you too! Just remember, every woman carries differently. Good luck and congratulations!

I'm really surprised your doctor told you the baby would be larger just based on external measurements. There are other factors that can determine how you're measuring.

My first pregnancy I measured 3-4 weeks ahead the whole time, after an ultrasound my OB told me it was likely because of how the baby was laying in the womb, she was 7 lbs 4 oz.

My second pregnancy I measured 6!! weeks ahead!!! It ended up being because I had an over-abundance of amniotic fluid. My OB happened to be checking me when my water broke and it ruined her shoes! My son was 7lbs 10 oz.

I wouldn't worry too much about how you're measuring!

Good luck on your new little one!!

It's totally normal to measure ahead. With my singleton daughter, I was 45 'weeks' at the end. With my twins, I hit 58!

It's worth noting now that all three of my girls are very tall, and although Adia had a high birth weight (9 lbs 5 oz) she's stayed on the same band of her growth chart for weight gain. It wasn't an easy delivery (emergency C-section) but she was worth it all. The twins came c-section too. (8 lbs and 7 lbs 7 oz.)

I'd estimate he might be pretty close to Dia's birthweight, at least 9 lbs.

Its hard to say...but my situation was the same..my son was 8 lbs and 14 oz and was born at 38.5 weeks..i think they were wrong about my dates..did they give you a weight estimate to the baby?? how can he say it will be larger than your last if you are only 27 weeks?? maybe he will be the same or around the same as your first.

I measured between 1 to 2 weeks ahead my entire pregnancy. I delivered 1 day before my due date and my daughter weighed 8 pounds 8 ounces.

I don't think ur baby will be any larger than 9lbs. Maybe ur baby will weigh the same as ur first.
