What do you think the rapture is, and when will it come ?

Great question! I see from this question linked to your last one that you have been thinking about the second coming. I believe that the rapture that you are speaking of is the event that desribes the return of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior to the earth. After reading the discription of the day of the second coming in the book of Revelations it is evident that "rapture" is the best word to discribe this stunning, capturing event where everything stops--both on earth AND in heaven--Jesus is here--THIS is the apex--the moment of Truth.

"In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also."

(John 14:2)

When the time which has been appointed has come, Jesus himself will come back for us. This links to your last question of what happens when one dies. I believe that at the moment of death we fall into a deep slumber in which we have no conception of time or place. At the time of the rapture these brothers and sisters which have fallen asleep will be awoken by Jesus and brought to his Holy City to rejoice forever with the Lord.

I feel that it is fundamental to say this however amongst the constant battle of understanding if times are coming to an end and the interpretaion of Daniel and Revelations which many believe is a sure sign that Jesus will come tomorrow morning.....

If I may add a personal view on the issue (and this is not directed to you Min. Butler--it is for all those who put so much time into mapping out and time-lining events and interpretations of exactly when this event will come to pass--Lord knows I have been one of them!). I believe that instead of worrying so much about the calculations of when the Lord will appear, we should get cracking on working in His field so that when He does come He hasn't caught us with idle hands--rather He has caught us working diligently in the way that He commanded us to.

Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest." (Matthew 9:37)

Work and don't worry about things that aren't for you to worry about! Do what He taught you to do and let Him do His work.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you."

The rapture is an imminent event that can take place any time. I am wating for the rapture as God promised in His word will take place:

"But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.

For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words." (1 Thess. 4:13-18).

Nobody knows when the rapture will take place. Believers have been looking forward to it for the past 2000 years. But going by the wickedness and godlessness of today I believe the time is ripe. 1 Corinthians 15:50-58 also describes the rapture.

It's a delusional belief that is very attractive among people who have a psychological need to feel "special". Unfortunately, this is a common motif in some strains of "Christianity" - particularly when you get to the more nutcase end of the Calvinist spectrum. As with most psychoses it is not possible to convince a believer by appealing to logic, rationality or evidence that their belief is entirely made up for the immediate infantile psychological comfort it provides.

Some believers, though, manage to escape from the delusion when they realise that it is entirely narcissistic, and completely inconsistent with any sensible analysis of ethics, history, or theology - or actual scripture, for that matter. Others escape when they think through the ramifications of the fantasy were it to actually play out in reality.

The Rapture refers to the end of the Great Tribulation, Jerusalem is in danger of being completely destroyed by Satan and Jesus Christ returns to the earth at which time the dead in Christ followed by believers who are still alive will be raptured to meet Jesus in the air, and join in with the armies of heaven as the returning Christ comes to judge.

Christians who suffered through the great tribulation are therefore removed just before God's wrath pours down on Satan and all his followers.

The Rapture is an unbiblical doctrine popularized by John Nelson Darby in the 1820's, and (rightly) rejected by over 90% of Christians world-wide.

The rapture is the 2nd coming of Christ. He will gather all his followers in the sky, so they won't have to go through the tribulation.

The Bible says he will come like a theif in the night, when he is least expected.

The rapture may be real or just fiction to scare people, if it would be real it would take many years to figure out, you could try reading the "revelations" section of the Bible, in the revelations section you will find everything on the rapture, and including that 666 is the number of the devil... maybe it has something to do with that?? Or it could have something to do with Tria Mera (search for Tria Mera in Google nothing in bible)

The Seventh Trumpet (which many refer to as "the Rapture") will occur at the CONCLUSION of the “tribulation”.

Based on the Scriptures below, I believe that the church (1 Cor.10:32 below - saints of the most High, Dan.7:25 below) will face the tribulation under the beasts of Revelation chapter 13.

The "tribulation" will occur between the Sixth SEAL (Re.6:12-17) and the Seventh TRUMPET (1 Thess.4:16-17)..

1 Cor.10:32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:

Matt.24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

Dan. 7:21 I beheld, and the same (little) horn (king) MADE WAR WITH THE SAINTS, and prevailed against them (Dan.7:25 below);

Dan.7:25 And he (the little horn/king - Dan.7:8, Dan.7:24) shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High (Re.15:3), and think to change times and laws (Re.13:15, Dan.11:31): and they (the saints) shall be given into his hand until A TIME and TIMES and THE DIVIDING OF TIME (3 ½ years/1260 days)

Dan.8:24 And his (the king's - Dan.8:23, little horn's - Dan.8:9, Dan.7:24) power shall be mighty, but not by his own power (but Satan’s - Re.13:11-12): and he shall destroy wonderfully (Re.13:15), and shall prosper, and practice, and SHALL DESTROY THE MIGHTY AND THE HOLY PEOPLE (Dan.12:7 below, Col.1:22, Eph.1:4).

Re.12:17 And the DRAGON (Re.12:9, Re.20:2) was wroth with the woman (the church of God - 1 Cor.10:32, Col.1:22, Col.1:24), and WENT TO MAKE WAR WITH THE REMNANT (the rest) OF HER SEED, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Re.13:7 And it was given unto him (the beast of Re. 13:1) TO MAKE WAR WITH THE SAINTS, AND TO OVERCOME THEM: and (Satanic) power was given him (Re.13:2) over ALL kindreds, and tongues, and nations (Dan.7:23, Re.17:15).

Re.13:15 And he (another beast coming up out of the earth - Re.13:11) had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as WOULD NOT WORSHIP the IMAGE of the beast SHOULD BE KILLED .

Re.16:6 For they (those who had the mark of the beast and those who worshipped his image) have shed the blood of SAINTS and PROPHETS, and thou hast given them blood to drink (Re.16:4); for they are worthy. (of this punishment)

Re.17:6 And I saw the woman (that great city Babylon - Re.17:5) drunken with the blood of the SAINTS (Dan.7:21, Re.13:7, Re.13:15, Re.11:7), and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus (Re.18:24): and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.

Dan.12:6-7 And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the END of these wonders?

And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for A TIME, TIMES, AND AN HALF (3 ½ years or 1260 days); and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people (Dan.8:24, Re.11:3, Re.11:7), all these things shall be FINISHED (Re.10:7).
