why would jesus care if you starve yourself?

I have fasted as a Christian. Indeed, Jesus said some things are not moved except by prayer and fasting. Why does this question agitate the unbelievers to the point of being rude? Ghandi, [who did not come back from the dead] fasted too, as a nonviolent protest for India, yet you are not hearing how stupid he was, and you won't from me. Our nondenominational church periodically asks that those that feel moved to join in a fast, and always makes sure to add that people with health problems to pray, but please consult a doctor for advise. The question begs to be asked, why didn't some of the rude responders just skip this question?

Fasting has been around and used to strengthen prayer since the Jews ruled the world thousands of years ago.

Like all spiritual things there is a right way and a wrong way. Study up for it to work.

BUT many people think only Fasting can do the job. Fasting without prayer is just starving.

For a follower of Christ it is not if you fast but when you fast. You are correct in stating it adds power to prayer. Less of us and more of God. Personally, I do not fast to get God to move but rather that he would move me. Thanks for asking. I like this question.

Fasting brings us past our human needs to be closer to God.

The most useful thing that fasting can do is to take off the extra pound or two. Prayer is worthless, no matter how it is done.
