Go to the local library or bookstore and find a cool audio book or two. I love listening to Charles Kuralt audio books when I'm "On the Road"!

You mean, you are riding to Texas? Let's hope if you were DRIVING that you would pay attention to the road! lol

Try talking to your DAD. I bet if you asked him questions and let him answer, you would be amazed.

Don't argue, just talk and PLAY!

Ask him what he would do if he was President. Then YOU answer it.

Ask him what he thinks is the hardest part of being a teenager these days. Then YOU tell him.

Ask him what was the hardest part of being a teenager when HE was one. Then you tell him what you think of that.

Ask him how he and your mom met. Tell him you are glad he did, because you are happy to be around.

Ask him what he wants to do before 5 years is up. You answer too.

Ask him if he has any regrets and why. Tell him some of your regrets. (We all have them.)

Ask him what he would do if he won the lottery. Then you answer.

Try cross-word puzzles and involve DAD in the puzzle. It can't be fun--for him-riding in a car with a bored teenager, and not even talking.

Listen to books on tape-that you and DAD might like.

REmember there are 2 of you in the car. Try being thoughtful of someone else.

This could be a fun trip where you get to know your dad better and enjoy him more and he gets to know you some. You might have a great time together.

Or this could be torture you have to endure with your poor dad at the wheel. It will seem like DAYS instead of 12 hours.

Quelle(n): I went to Washington DC with my DAD when I was 14. We were gone over a week. We had a ball--together. I am so glad I have that now, because he is been gone 13 years.

Try finding some music that yall both enjoy! I'm form Texas and moved to Arkansas to go to school so I know how the long drive is very boring. The only I know to do is listen to music and maybee try taking a different route this time. Try impressing your dad with new and more scenic directions so sights will be new to you both. You can try looking them up at mapquest. this will sound stupid but if you do stuff together it makes the trip go faster than sitting in a corner. that is for the driver too!! that way the mood stays happier the trip stays shorter.

you fell asleep while driving??? listening to music, especially singing along with the lyrics, has been clinically proven to help drivers stay more alert.
