TTC with PCOS, Not my first child, any tips?
I have poly-cystic ovarian syndrome. I have two children already. I have been TTC for about a year now for our third child. With the first two, I was on birth control for about a year and then would go off of it and get pregnant in about 3-5 months. I did the same exact thing this time and it hasn't happened yet. Anyone have any advice on what to do? Or has anyone with pcos run into this problem after already giving birth to a child(ren)?
Never had an fertility, I have thought about it though. I conceieved the other two with out any help from Drs. The only doctor who has ever addressed my pcos wrote me off. Told me "Well, I know why you aren't having you menstual (sp?) cycle, you have pcos". Then proceded to tell me there wasn't a whole lot I could do about it, good luck & goodbye. Didn't leave me with a good impression about drs handling pcos infetility.
Thanks for your answers. pcos is 100% the problem, I might have 1 period every couple years usually after loosing some weight, even if I'm not over weight, sometimes just dropping down to 125lbs will help (I am currently 130lbs and 5'5"). But all the tricks I had up my sleeve for conceiving my other two children are just not working this time. I called my OB, I have an appointment to discuss seeing an endocrinologist and fetility specialist (I need to see the endo for my non-fertility pcos issues).
By saying it's 100% pcos, I mean I have had hormonal test, ultra-sounds and other test to determine it, I also have just about every (even the embarassing ones, if you have it then you know what I mean) symptom a women with pcos can have and it runs in my family.

Hi I have 2 children and pcos too. ttc #3. I too was on b/c pills before both children. b/c pills cover up the pcos that's why it's hard to detect til you come off them. My doc. has me on metformin 500 mg a day and I'm taking prenatals everyday.
this cycle I'm taking soy isoflavons on cd 3-7 in place of clomid you can get those on line or over the counter and mucinex cd 13-cd18 to improve cm. You need ewcm or wcm for the sperm to live longer in case you o a little later.
I used opks last cycle, some women cannot use them with pcos cause they get false + all the time, but i didn't.
I hope this helps and good luck.

sounds like you may want to consultant another Dr. You may PCOS but there are tests to back up what your Dr is saying. Many Dr. tend to say women have PCOS now that it is more common. Take your time don't stress and ask about meds. Many Dr. will put you on meds they give people with diabetes then a infertility drug with it. The Metformid(sp?) will help balance your hormones and sugars, which should help you get prego! Good luck to you! Also not sure but a lot of women with PCOS including myself are over weight and if you loose the weight it helps big time. I just lost 50 lbs and my cycle is starting to go normal again on its own. This isnt the case for everyone though. But again Good luck and Dont forget to count your blessings you already have too !!!!!!

I really don't have any suggestions right yet because just getting started myself but did want to tell you I wish you the best of luck. I know it is hard going through this. May God bless you and your family!

After trying to conceive for about a year, I would go to a fertility specialist if I was you to try to figure out the REAL source of the problem. They can do a full work up and figure out what is wrong. If PCOS or what. Anyways, there are meds, if you need them and treatments. Best wishes.

Have you considered fertility treatments? I ask because I suffer from PCOS as well as endometriosis. My doc has put me on Clomid. Clomid is an excellent drug for this ailment. Good Luck!

well if you have two children then you are ovulating. you probably need to time sex better. if your periods are only slightly irregular then you may be able to conceive w/o assistance. however, if you are over or nearing 35 I wld probably just go to an reproductive endocrinoligist now.
if you want to try and track your ovulation, maybe try charting your basal body temp and checking for signs of ovulation like cevical mucus.
best of luck!
