My dog just had x-rays and it looks like "link sausages" are blocking his colon....the matter that is obstructing the colon is lighter on the x-ray than his bone is, which means it is denser than bone, and the blockage extends for about 13 inches.
The vet is keeping him to do an enema today.
My question is how often does this type of blockage get cleared without surgery?
I did ask my vet...but he is worthless...usually there is another vet in the office that we see...but he is out for the week...so I dont really trust this whack job... :-)

at least your vet is doing something bout your pup unlike one i used to use when he had a blockage but the time he did have an operation he was an hour off of death because the secod vet listened to what i had to say he had already had 2 weeks of antibiotics good luck with your pup and thank your lucky stars that the vet is listening and trust what he is saying

It's hard to say what the blockage even is let alone how it will be cleared. Poor puppy though. Yes, definitely trust your vet to do what's best.
