You can not run the game on the external drive - it does not have an operating system - it is for storage only.

Once you get the external drive, you would be better off moving your movies & music to the external. External hard drives are excellent for bulk storage, and free up your computers internal drive to do it's primary job of supporting XP and other running software.
I wouldn't really attempt to run any high-end games from the external drive, as you probably won't be satisfied with the results. Install programs on the internal drive, keep the external just for storage.
Hope this helps!

ok, first i want to clear things up. you dont find how much is left on your "Microsoft XP", you find out how much space is left on your "hard drive." to do this, goto "My Computer" then right-click on the drive you want, then choose "Properties" from the drop-down menu. its as simple as that, and it tells you your used space and your free space.
as for getting an external hard drive, you can attach one at any time. just make sure it is formated as FAT 32 or NTFS (preferably NTFS) filesystem, plug it in and you are good to go. you dont need one anywhere near that big if all you want to do is install the flight simulator. i dont know the specifications of the simulator, but it should take up less than 2 gigs easily.

Open My Computer and right click on the hard disk drive (probably C) and see how much you have used and open. You probably won't need to install the Flight Simulator on an external, and it may not work anyway. You'd have to consult the manual on where you can install said programme.

start, programs, accessories, windows explorer - click your c drive. Right click c, and choose properties. That will tell you how much is empty yet.
The answer to your other question is -
I have no idea. I would imagine so. It depends on the computer you have, and whether it has the capability to run an external hd.
If it does, yes.
If not... maybe there is another way to do it. But, one would need to know more about your machine to be of further help.

Ok first go to
My Computer > Right click C Drive > Go down to the bottom where it says Properties > Then youll see how much memory you have left
Also do the same but with D drive and add them both up
=] Enjoy

Go to Start, My computer and right click on the C drive. Then go to properties and you will see the amount of disc space left over. As for part two of your question, you can always add more hard drive space as well as memory to your PC.

To check your remaining Hard Disk space, go to My Computer and right click drive C: and go to properties, from there you will see a pie chart of your remaining hard disk space.
You can purchase another blank hard disk and connect it to your PC, this will be a slave hard disk and you can still use your old hard drive. Once you installed it, you will have a drive D: or E:

Start>My Computer
right click on the 'C' drive. Click on properties, that should tell you.
And, you could get an external drive, but it would run slower than if it were on an internal one.

open my computer left click on drive C and go to properties. Also it doesn't matter how much space you have in your computer, but you can add as much external space as you want.
