PS3 v1.8 update question?

I think some people have had problems connecting to the Internet because of the Media Server. Try going into Settings and turning it off, and see if that fixes your problem. If not, try calling Sony support.

Yes I have the same problem but now my ps3 also doesnt want to read disc after the update . I first found out when the program folding at home didn't want to connect to the internet and now all the blu ray disc i have will not play. Sux good thing i have insurance. But all ps3's are warrantied for one yr which is impossible to be pass up since the ps3 has only been out for 6 months as long as u have ur recipt u should be able to return it if u cant resolve this problem.

I'm assuming you have a Linksys G router, that seems to be who it's effecting most.

An easy solution is just to go into the Network settings, and DISABLE the new Media finding stuff they added there with this update. It's basically so on a network, you can stream video and pictures from you PC to your PS3, something I don't plan on using so it's no problem for me to have it disabled. That should solve your problem till Sony's next update.

If you are wanting to stream media from your computer to your PS3, you can call Sony Support and they will tell you what ports need to be activated on your router to get it to work properly.
