Euphorbia " Fire sticks" not Red but green?

Question

I bought this plant on sale at Home Depot this fall and the tag said it was a "Fire Stick" euphorbia.  It is geen now but will it only get its red color after it has been in the sun for a while or did I just get the wrong one?  It is growing well now in a well lit window.

The top third of the "pipes" will get orangish-red, or coral, in the winter.  In summer, the coloration is absent, or less dramatic.  You may need to wait until next winter to see it do its thing.
Water only when it gets dry.

Careful of the sap.  It's very irritating to skin, and toxic to animals (and children, of course)

Euphorbia tirucalli v. rosea or Fire sticks  new growth is red and greens with age.  It sounds like you got a mismarked common one usually called a pencil tree. These can grow quite large with the right conditions. Wear protective clothing and gloves when trimming as the sap is an irritant and toxic to children and pets.

You bought a Euphorbia Tirucalli cv. fire sticks. it can also turn green if you water it to much. if you protect it from frost they can become large plants. wild ones become trees well over 30 feet tall in the wild.
