It's a tv show. I assume the writers thought that they were being clever, thinking up something that no one had thought of before. They were wrong of course.

In this clip the (Democratic) President shows that he has read the Old Testament but not the New. In the show I believe he is stated to be Catholic, but he shows an abysmal ignorance of what his religion teaches. I hope no one watching this clip goes away with the idea that the President has 'explained' anyone. At the end of the clip he says 'Toby, that's how I beat them', indicating that he is not interested in 'religion and spirituality' but in winning political points. That's easy if you're loud enough.
