Will my vehicle lose its historical status with the DVLA?
I have an old military landrover which is currently road tax exempt due to its age. Trouble is, the engine type is shown as petrol on the registration document but it's actually a diesel. Originally it would have been a petrol engine but the diesel was already in when I bought it. If I declare this to the DVLA will I have to start paying tax?

No - as long as the vehicle was registered before January 1st 1973, it will always be classed as a historic vehicle and entitled to a free tax disc.

No, the vehicle is tax exempt due to it's age not the fuel that it uses.

AS FAR AS I KNOW TAX EXEMPTION IS ON THE AGE OF THE VEHICLE AND NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ENGINE. A CALL TO SWANSEA WILL SORT YOU OUT ON 0870 240 0010
