you werent even fishing for trout!! You on one hand are awsome for catching a big brown trout, yet you did not work hard for it/ deserve it. something you mount/ spend a lot of money on is something you hunted or fished for for a long time to catch, and you had your eye on the prize for a long time!! that is something you should be proud of and should want on your wall watching you sleep! yet i dont know much of anything about trout, but if brown trout are really sweet looking and that is just a ridiculusly big trout you should mount it just because! And if you are gonna mount it stick it in ice, it will lose its color but its all good becasue your gonna get a replica anyhow.

Some adivice: dont listen to thin kabatskus advice, theres a reason you pay taxidermist a lot of money......because walmart doesnt include the years of training that you need in that 20 $ kit!!plus that guy just said bon appatite which automatically makes him a moron!

Replica mounts are pretty popular nowadays. They involve using pictures and measurements of a fish you caught, and having the taxidermist create a mount. They don't use the skin of the fish you've caught, so they last a lot longer. Expect to pay between $150 and $250 for a fish that size. Personally, I'd hold out for the big 10 pounder, but Brown Trout are beautiful fish.

If it makes you proud to have caught it, of course you should mount it! You can preserve your trout's skin with regular borax, and carefully glue it to a trout-shaped wood or polystyrene form. You can buy a kit to do this yourself for less than $20.

It might take a time or two to get it right, but that gives you a good reason to go fishing again!

    Bon appetit!

I caught a really nice 25 incher and have been quoted $11-12 per inch for a replica. I think a real mount may be a little less.

You may consider making a mould of the fish and hanging that on the wall,

a very detailed method is included in the link provided, (you may need to register to view it ,it's free) good luck and well done on your capture

dont waste your time and money mounting that, use it on fishing more to catch a 24-28 in. but heck it all up to you

Next time get a picture of the fish, get it's measurements, ,girth,etc..and get a graphite replica and let the fish swim.It will last longer ,won't rot and maybe you could catch it again.

Whateva rocks your (man in the) boat.

I agree with Paul D. Wait until you earn it.
