My 10 Year old Iguana is dying..any suggestions on making him comfortable?

I am pretty sure that he is on his last leg. He is not eating which is normal this time of year I know but something is different about him. He acts sluggish and depressed. Would a warm bath help him or make him more stressed. He likes water in the summer and when he was little he would swim all the time, but now his skin is flaking and normally I would bathe him, also helps him digest any food that he may have left. He has pooped in the last few days and hasn't ate since then but he did spit up some water that my Husband tried to give him. I am a Vet tech but know nothing about sick Iguanas. Thanks foryour suggestions.

Update:

Just some more info...He is outside in the summer months and loves it but in the Winter months those conditions are not as ideal for him and he goes through his "rut" and his eating habits are sporatic.

I would suggest a herp vet, but you probably know when you would want to do that being a vet tech...The only thing that I know of is to raise the heat. That seems to be the general rule with sickness and even if it doesn't help him get better it should make him a little more comfortable. Also, I think that the bath would be a good thing for him.

It's not normal for your Iguana to eat less this time of year he should eat the same amount all year, he should get a warm bath everyday or so. And he shouldn't be dying at this age he should be fine so I suggest taking him to the vet ASAP. CHECK OUT THESE WEBSITES! The first one was recommended by my vet.

What kind of cage is he in? Does he have a 8.0 UV light and a basking spot of 95-100 degrees? If not he should and he should have a bowl of water. You should also be feeding him 45% leafy greens like collard, dandelions and mustard greens not lettuces. 45% hard mixed veggies, such as orange fleshed squash(acorn, butternut, pumpkin), green bell peppers, turnips, peas, and green beans. And 10% fruit such as figs, papaya, mango, and berries.

If he is really sick you should take it to the vet and get them to put him asleep. I know this sounds heartbreaking but the iguana will be more comfortable in heaven , sorry but I think you should just put out of his misery. = (

when pets die they bring a lot of grief. if you think your iguana is really dying, consult a reptile vet. if your worst fears are true, have him put down to get him out of his suffering.
