What is the best vacuum for us? 4 cats, a 2 yr old and 2 adults .. carpet (older) throughout the house.?

I got the purple Dyson for animals. It was expensive ($500) but it works great and we love it.

Don't bother with a Kirby! I got one and it is a pain in the butt! Not very simple like they show you. And really, not that great.
