Does Christmas make you feel depressed?

YES. It is not even Christmas yet, and I am dreading next years already!. WHY? My parents have passed away and things really changed. When they were gone, never hardly see the relatives anymore as we always gathered at mom and dads home. People from North Carolina, Detroit, Atlanta, and from other places. I have stepped on people sleeping in the hallways. In other words my life changed. I am alone. My three children with theirs have their thing to do with friends, and in-laws. Last Christmas was a disaster as so far as getting together.

I remember the time not so long ago that I stayed at a Ramada Inn on Christmas Eve as I could not stand the thought of going home alone. This was a ten story hotel and there were four people there. The desk clerk, me, and another couple..I swore then never would I ever go through this again.

I have a friend that goes to Las Vegas each Christmas as La$ Vega$ really turns the town into "airline" city. My friend goes there each Christmas. He throwns about two grand in the floor, kisses his wife, and family and he is off.Tells them he will see them about January 5th. I know that sounds bizzare, but it is the truth.

Christmas is at the worst time of the year. It is rainy or snowy outside and cold. I hurt very bad at this time of the year which puts anyone in a down mood. I have not had to deal with depression since I was a teenager many moons ago..

This is why Christmas is not the best time of the year for me...Well that is not the whole truth...My father died at this time of the year as well, he did not even get to open his Christmas presents. He fell asleep and never woke up.

It really depends on the person. Yes it can make one depressed because a lot of people are spending money that they don't have. Some other reasons: loss of family member,friend, or loved one.

Staying in doors b/c of the weather.

Theirs shorter day light

Or if a bad/upsetting memory occurred

around the same time of year.

Also college students have a hard time

b/c there juggling school,jobs,and friends.

My dad is feeling depressed, and Christmas is less than a week away. I don't get depressed though, because i love celebrating Christmas. But the people who do get depressed, i think they get depressed because they get tired of seeing all the jolly happy singing people. And it brings back memories of times that weren't so jolly.

Christmas is depressing because all of my friends are exchanging gifts with each other and I never get anything.

It doesn't make me depressed but it can cause depression in some people because they buy into the stereotypical happy family and then they compare it to their lives.

It makes me feel more annoyed and pissed than anything else knowing it's coming because I know I'll be listening to alot of females crying in the near future.

in the past my parents used to fight really bad around this time i still have these memories etched in my mind ..but looking forward to replacing those memories with new ones this year :)
